Welcome to the Home of PAART!
The Promoting Academic Achievement Research Team "PAART" was founded in 2010 by Dr. Amanda Marcotte, Associate Professor in the School Psychology Program at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Our goals are to examine and develop school based interventions to improve students’ academic outcomes and school engagement. We study academic achievement from a prevention orientation, which includes assessing how populations of students respond to the instruction they receive. We study screening and progress monitoring technologies that are essential to data-based decision-making. We examine instructional strategies and interventions in relation to evidence-based practices. Our goal is to disseminate knowledge of best practices that enhance students’ academic outcomes to educators, school psychologists, school leaders, and policy-makers.
Under the supervision of Dr. Marcotte, PAART members are graduate students from across the College of Education, including students from the School Psychology Program, Special Education Concentration, and Teacher Education and Curriculum Studies. Our team collaborates with our alumni across the country, and with faculty across the University of Massachusetts campuses.
